LAST CALL FOR ST PAT'S PARADE!
TJC is putting together its annual parade contingent to have a little
Crimson & Blue celebration in the midst of the annual wearin' of the
Green. The parade is Friday, March 17, at Noon. We need decorated
vehicles, bicycles, strollers, dogs, little Jayhawks and walkers. We'll
be throwing thousands of red and blue beads to the fans. Vehicles need
to be at 8th & Harrison no later than 10 am or they won't be able to get
united with the entire contingent. Other participants should be in
place by 11:30am. The TJC band will ride the bandwagon playing fight
songs, and hopefully Baby Jay will be able to join us (subject to
basketball tournament availability). Any vehicle needs to reserve a
place with Larry Tenopir at 233-9467 (o), 232-1332 (h). Anyone wanting
additional information should call the same numbers.

WOO-HOO! FT.
WORTH BOWL CHAMPIONS COMIN' TO T-TOWN
Coach Mark Mangino and his bowl-champion Jayhawks are coming to Topeka
for a scrimmage set Saturday, April 1, 2:00 pm. at the Hummer Park
Stadium (6th just west of Mac Vicar). Gates will open at 1:15, and
admission is FREE. Coach is treating the travel arrangements via bus
and the scrimmage like a road game with his offense playing his defense.
The loser will reportedly face "consequences", so there will be more at
stake than your average scrimmage.
TJC will try to add a real game atmosphere requesting help from the TJC
band. We need everyone there to show the team how much pride we have in
their last season and how much hope we have for the upcoming season. KU
season tickets will be available at the game.
So don't be an April Fool and be left out. Come cheer on the Hawks.
Hummer seats 6,000. Let's fill every seat! With KU playing KU, we'll be
able to find something to cheer about on every single play!

SUPPORT KU AT THE CAPITOL
March 15 is KU in the Capitol day. Close to 100 KU faculty, staff and
administrators will be telling KU's story to legislators throughout the
day on Wednesday, March 15. TJC members are invited to show support for
the university at the 12 Noon program featuring a speech by Chancellor
Hemenway. Anyone who is willing to contact legislators by letter or
phone to urge support for KU funding can contact the KU Alumni
Association's coordinated effort at

HAWKWATCHES PLANNED FOR
TOURNAMENTS
Hawkwatches are planned for the Saturday and Sunday (March 11 & 12) Big
12 Tournament games in which KU plays. Because of room availability,
there will be no Friday, March 10, Hawkwatch. For NCAA tournament
games, please visit the website to see if a Hawkwatch is planned.
Parties will depend on game times and room availability. All
Hawkwatches are planned at Jeremiah's Live in Gage Center in the
non-smoking room at the north end. Kids are welcome and will be
comfortable. More and more are coming to each party. Seating should
also be available in the smoking section of the bar.

TJC TO SEND TOPEKA
KIDS TO THE KU RELAYS
TJC has made a major financial commitment from the treasury to the KU
relays to enable one thousand Topeka-area kids involved in Sertoma
programs to attend the KU relays. Our donation will pay for the buses
to transport the kids and for KU blue shirts that each kid will receive
along with other neat KU stuff provided by KU. The TJC logo will be on
the shirt, and the kids will receive a flyer about TJC for their
parents. KU will also provide a meal for each kid.
In addition to providing an opportunity for these elementary school kids
to see the KU campus and feel the excitement of this huge event in
Memorical Stadium, the kids will also hear from KU Admissions staff and
students about what it's like to go to school at KU.
The TJC board believes this program will have a huge impact on promoting
the university and KU athletics in our area. TJC board members and
volunteers will also be helping at the Relays.

DON'T BE BORED! BE BOARD!
If you have any interest in becoming more involved in TJC activities,
look into becoming a board member. We meet monthly as a board and
divide up into committees for specific activities. Board members also
provide all the volunteer staffing at various events. We work for free,
and we work for fun. For further info, contact President Justin
Glasgow, 286-1316.

If anyone knows who ended up with the Jayhawk VW Bug or the White PT
Cruiser with the painted Jayhawks, please let Larry Tenopir know,
233-9467. Both were sold in 2005, and we’d like to see if the new owners
are interested in being in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
