ST PAT'S JUST AROUND THE
CORNER
The St. Patrick's Day parade falls on a Saturday this year right in
the middle of NCAA Sub-Regional play.
We'll once again be showing our KU spirit with the band,
twirlers, and lots of decorated KU cars and marchers.
This year, all vehicles will meet at the north end of the
Ramada parking lot at 9:45 am.
At 10:00, we'll then move all together to the parade line-up
on 8th north of the Capitol.
Walkers, band members, twirler and anyone not driving a
vehicle will just need to wander around to find us there.
For further info: call Larry
Tenopir, 233-9467.
On parade day, if you can't find us, call Larry at 224-3501.

DON'T MISS
MIZZOU AND TOURNAMENT HAWKWATCHES
Don't miss the February 10 Mizzou Hawkwatch featuring free hors
d'oeuvres and lots of great Jayhawk companionship.
Partly because of all the 8pm weeknight games (which have
never had good Hawkwatch crowds) and other anomalies like Saturday
night games (when the room isn't available), the board decided to
experiment with two big parties this year plus tournament games,
depending on scheduling/availability of room. Watch for reminders
when tournament time is here.

NAISMITH MEMORABILIA SELLS WELL
From KU Alumni News: James Naismith's granddaughter, Hellen
Carpenter, recently sold a number of her grandfather's items she
found in her basement for a total of $700,000. Among items sold were
Naismith's copy of the original rules of basketball
which fetched $53,000. The prized whistle that he used while
coaching at KU sold for $13,000, and his passport from 1936 when he
traveled to the Olympic games in Berlin brought in $20,000.

AND SPEAKING OF AUCTIONS:
The KU Athletics Department has started another series of auctions on E-Bay.
Recently sold was the 1988 NCAA Championship banner which hung from
the Field House rafters. It sold for $4,000. Also sold was a
basketball rim for $400.
Auctions will continue at the Kansas
Athletics Web site,
http://www.kuathletics.com
Click on Kansas Online Auctions to get in on the bidding. Currently
on the auction block is a men's basketball signed by the 2003-'04
men's basketball team, including Keith Langford, Wayne Simien and
Aaron Miles and a Big 6 banner that hung in the fieldhouse.

BEAKS & TAILS
A
recycled joke notes the announcement of construction of a new scenic
golf course in Columbia, MO.
Somewhat unusual is that the course will only be 14 holes--since
Mizzou never makes it to the final four.
Other
jokes have been coming your editor's way regarding both K-State and
MU, but unfortunately none are fit for publication.
KU
is ranked 9th in the world in rate of new patents issued. As of the
end of 2006, KU holds 45 US patents with 53 pending.
KU
Endowment passed $1 billion in total worth during the fiscal year
ending June 30, 2006.
The new net worth is $1.25 billion with $99 million contributed to
KU support last year.
